COMPUTERWORLD Honors Laureate Program - 2010

Logo of COMPUTERWORLD Honors Program

The IDG Computerworld Honors Program has recognized REJIS’ Grants Management System as a Laureate. Founded by International Data Group (IDG) in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program is governed by the not-for-profit Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation. In its 22nd year, Computerworld Honors is the longest running global program to honor individuals and organizations that use information technology to benefit society.

Press Release

Each year, the Honors Program Chairmen’s Committee, a group of 100 Chairmen/CEOs of global technology companies, nominates individuals and organizations around the world whose visionary application of information technology promotes positive social and economic progress. An independent board of CIO-level judges evaluates nominations and select Laureates, Finalists and award recipients, in 10 industry-related categories, to be honored at the Laureate Medal Ceremony.

Additional information about the Honors Program can be found at the Computerworld Honors website: http://www.cwhonors.org/.

The new Grants Management System replaced a process in use at the Missouri Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Division that was reliant on paper forms and procedures, converting it into a web-enabled application that is easy to use and navigate. As a result, the length of time required to apply, award, and disburse funds and then manage grant awards has been drastically shortened. This puts the awarded funds in the hands of the recipients sooner and streamlines the follow up reporting process so they spend less time on documentation activities.

The application design is flexible. While the Highway Safety Division is using the Grants Management System to accept applications for grants that they will award and administer, it can be easily adapted to support grant programs of any type. The application can also be used by an agency to administer grants that they have been awarded. For additional information contact the REJIS Client Services Division, (314) 535-1950.

COMPUTERWORLD Honors Laureate Program - 2008

Founded by International Data Group (IDG) in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program is governed by the not-for-profit Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation. In its 20th year, Computerworld Honors is the longest running global program to honor individuals and organizations that use information technology to benefit society.

REJIS Data Center: The IDG Computerworld Honors Program recognized REJIS' data center construction project as a Laureate.

Press Release

The new data center replaced an obsolete facility that was part of REJIS' general office. The new center, built in space previously occupied by a parking lot, has doubled the space previously allocated for the data center. It includes features such as enhanced security, designed and constructed to withstand natural and man-made catastrophic events, and improvements supporting daily operations, such as better loading dock and storage areas, cable management system, 24 raised floors and an emergency generator for power with redundant power and data inputs to computing equipment.

The result was a project completed on time and well under budget that positions REJIS to continue and expand providing mission critical IT services to criminal justice and general government entities.

REJIS Mobile Ticketing Project: The IDG Computerworld Honors Program also recognized REJIS' Mobile Ticketing project as a Laureate.

Press Release

Enforcement and adjudication of traffic laws is a major activity in municipal police departments and courts. The five major steps involved in the process are time consuming and the manual process presents numerous opportunities for the introduction of errors. REJIS' Mobile Ticketing application brings automation to the process with an emphasis on the efficient capture and reuse of information. By addressing the complete process, starting with issuing a ticket to the violator and continuing through updating the municipal court system and completing related law enforcement and court reporting forms, this is an end-to-end solution that provides benefits for the violator, police officer, court personnel and the general citizenry.

While primary use of the application is in support of the enforcement of traffic laws, the application supports referral of any case by the police to the municipal court. The Mobile Ticketing solution is part of REJIS' basic law enforcement service. When used in a patrol vehicle an associated printer is the only new cost to the agency.
